Mauritius ranks top five in Sub-Saharan Africa for women’s bank accounts
Mauritius ranks as one of the top five Sub-Saharan African countries with the highest number of bank accounts for women, according to a report by the World Bank.
The report revealed that 42% of women in Mauritius have bank accounts, which is higher than the Sub-Saharan African average of 27%.
The study also revealed that women in Kenya (39%), Tanzania (37%), and Uganda (34%) are more likely to have bank accounts than in other Sub-Saharan African countries.
The report highlights the importance of financial inclusion for women, as it contributes to their economic empowerment and helps to reduce poverty.
