Slow Start to October for Major Mauritian Stock Indices

The first week of October was challenging for the major stock indices on the Mauritius Stock Exchange.

The Semdex index declined by 0.31% for the week ending on October 6. On Friday’s trading session, MCBG saw a 0.07% drop to Rs 337 over 44,500 shares.

SBMH followed suit with a 1.06% decrease to Rs 4.68 on 147,400 shares traded. In a daily report, Swan Securities noted SUN’s decline, with the hotel group falling by 2.44% to Rs 40.

Meanwhile, Omnicane and Terra both experienced a 2.22% drop to Rs 22 and a 1.06% loss to Rs 23.25, respectively.

NIT and VIVO were no better, with declines of 2.31% to Rs 19 and 3.64% to De 210, respectively. MUA stood out by gaining 0.25% to reach Rs 100.

The underperformance continued at the start of the new week on the Mauritius Stock Exchange.

Influenced by MCBG’s 0.30% decline to Rs 336, the Semdex dropped by 0.21%. Terra couldn’t recover and lost 1.08% at Rs 23 over 169,600 shares traded. ENL also experienced a 1.28% decline to Rs 23.20, while NMH plummeted by 4.67% to Rs 12.25.
