Mauritius Ports Authority (MPA) is supporting TFG-GRM Ltd’s application for two Port Licences for Bunkering and Handling of Bunker Fuel, subject to specific conditions to be met within six months.

These conditions include obtaining an Environmental Impact Assessment Licence, providing a Rs 5 million bank guarantee, and securing a Trade License for Bunker Fuels.

TFG-GRM Ltd, a joint venture between TFG Marine and Groupe Roland Maurel, aims to double the value of Mauritius’ bunkering market.

They plan to offer professional and competitive refuelling facilities using the MT/Avatar barge.

The venture capitalises on Mauritius’ strategic location in the Indian Ocean.

The bunkering market was liberalised in 2014, with government incentives introduced. Initially, TFG-GRM Ltd will supply various types of fuel through the MT/Avatar barge.

The move is expected to strengthen the bunkering sector and bolster Mauritius’ status as a regional petroleum and bunkering hub.

Plans for new infrastructure include tanks with a storage capacity of 500,000 metric tons and a jetty with specific dimensions.
