Paracetamol Crisis: National Stock To Last Only 1 Month

In a shocking revelation, Health Minister Kailesh Jagutpal declared that the country grapples with a paracetamol supply crisis.

Rather than a shortage, the issue lies in a severe delay in the delivery of a crucial shipment, he was cited as telling Radio Plus.

According to the Health Minister, the country currently holds a mere 1-month reserve of paracetamol. Urgent measures have been set in motion to expedite the delivery from the supplier.

Minister Jagutpal underscored the gravity of the situation, stating, “We cannot afford to take any risks, considering that Mauritius consumes nearly 8 million paracetamol tablets each month.”

Paracetamol, also known as acetaminophen, is a widely used medication for pain relief and fever reduction. It is commonly employed to alleviate mild to moderate pain, such as headaches and muscle aches, as well as to lower fever associated with various illnesses.

Paracetamol is also used in pain management for chronic conditions and post-surgical recovery.
