France keeps Mauritius in ‘Red List’

After evaluating the current COVID-19 situation, the French authorities have decided to maintain Mauritius in their ‘Red List’.

Other countries in the red list are Afghanistan, Belarus, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Georgia, Nigeria, Montenegro, Pakistan, Suriname, Tanzania, Turkey, and the United States of America.

On the other hand, it has removed 12 third countries from the red list and place them on the orange one.

The countries that were removed from the red list include Ukraine, Moldova, Russia, as well as the nine southern African countries – Mozambique, Botswana, Lesotho, Eswatini, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, and Namibia – which were previously subject to the entry ban due to the widespread of the Omicron variant within their territory.

This means that travellers from the countries that moved from red to orange list will now be subject to less stringent entry rules when reaching France.

Fully vaccinated travellers from red-listed countries can currently enter Spain restriction-free provided that they present a pre-entry test. In contrast, unvaccinated travellers must quarantine for a period of ten days upon their entry.

As for the European Union and Schengen Area countries, they all are currently part of France’s green list, meaning that they can enter under facilitated entry rules, provided that they meet all the necessary requirements.
