Low-cost FlySafair to launch twice-weekly flights to Mauritius

The South African low-cost aviation company, FlySafair, will launch two flights per week to Mauritius. The flights will depart from OR Tambo international airport from Johannesburg as from October 1, when Mauritius open its borders.
Other South African airlines which will fly to the SSR International airport include Comair South Africa and South African Airways.
South African tourists are very important for Mauritius and represents 9% of arrivals, according to Jocelyn Kwok, CEO of the Association of Hoteliers and Restaurants in Mauritius (AHRIM).
In an interview with Defi Media, he said that the South African market has grown by 73% from 2009 to 2018 to reach 128, 097 tourists in 2018.
He added that apart from the tourism sector, many South Africans have purchased properties in Mauritius under the Residence-by Investment Scheme or the Real Estate acquisition schemes.
