Mauritius Opens 5 Day Public Consultation on National Cannabis Policy Reform
Members of the public in Mauritius are being invited to have their say on potential reforms to the country’s cannabis laws, as national consultations get underway this month.
The National Agency for Drug Control (NADC) has launched an official appeal for citizen participation to help reshape the nation’s drug policy.
The agency stated that the initiative aims to gather a wide range of perspectives to inform discussions on potential reforms and contribute to the development of public policies tailored to Mauritian realities.
The face-to-face consultation sessions are scheduled to take place over a five-day period, running from 8 June to 12 June 2026.
They will be hosted at the NADC headquarters, located at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Tower.
Citizens wishing to participate will be allocated approximately 20 to 30 minutes to present their observations, opinions, and formal recommendations to the agency.
However, organizers have stressed that participation is strictly by appointment only. Members of the public who wish to secure a slot are instructed to contact the NADC directly on 5509 3030.
Phone lines for bookings are open Monday to Friday, between 09:00 and 15:45.
