Hospital Isolates 60-Year-Old Patient over Potential Mpox Virus Infection
A man in his 60s has been placed in isolation at the Northern Hospital after being identified as a suspected case of Mpox, health authorities confirmed.
The suspected infection was first detected on Wednesday, 3 June, prompting the patient’s immediate transfer to the hospital facility.
Confirmatory testing is scheduled to take place this Thursday, 4 June, to determine whether the individual has contracted the virus.
Prior to his transfer and isolation at the Northern Hospital, the patient was receiving care at a private clinic.
Mpox, a viral disease formerly known as monkeypox, is characterized by several distinct clinical features.
The primary symptoms of the illness include a high fever, swollen lymph nodes, and a characteristic skin rash that can manifest across various parts of the body.
