Mauritius Secures New Petroleum Supply Deal with Sahara Energy Resources

Mauritius has signed a new contract with Sahara Energy Resources, a Nigerian company, to supply oil products to the island nation. The agreement is taking effect from August 1, 2024, and will run until July 31, 2025.

According to Rajiv Servansing, General Manager of the State Trading Corporation (STC), the company will deliver its first shipment to Mauritius in mid-August.

Servansing emphasized that this new arrangement will not affect the prices of petroleum products on the Mauritian market.

“We have negotiated a fixed price for transportation and delivery for the entire year,” Servansing explained. “The prices of fuels are determined by the global market.”

The STC General Manager also revealed that the petroleum products will be sourced from the Middle East.

Notably, the company has secured supplies from Saudi Aramco, which he described as “reassuring” due to the reputation of the quality of their products.

“This is reassuring because there is no risk of contract rupture,” Servansing said. “It’s also important to note that the product quality is unquestionable.”
