CoCo Tea, a Taiwanese brand now based in Mauritius, is celebrating its second anniversary since the opening of its first store at Victoria Urban Terminal. The brand has expanded to nine outlets across the island, offering a range of innovative flavors and products.

Since its launch, CoCo Tea has attracted a loyal customer base. Using natural ingredients such as green tea and offering customizable options like sugar-free and vegan, CoCo Tea caters to all tastes.

According to General Manager Leonie de Boer, one of the major challenges was differentiating themselves from the competition in the Mauritian market and maintaining a unique and quality image in an ever-evolving market.

“A moment that stands out in our memory is when foreign customers from Taiwan came to visit us and told us that not only did they find the quality to be excellent, but that our unique menu had made them rediscover the brand,” she said.

The brand continues to expand across the country with the opening of nine outlets in 18 months.

“Each opening is a strong and unique moment for us,” said de Boer. “We have also created the CoCo Mini brand in partnership with Winners.”

Among the best-sellers are the “Pearl Milk Tea,” which is CoCo Tea’s signature drink, made with black tea and tapioca pearls, as well as the “Bubble Gaga,” a unique preparation featuring green tea, passion fruit juice, and tapioca pearls with coconut jelly.

The franchise’s founding values are built on the quality of its products and the kindness of its staff.

De Boer emphasized that the company is constantly evolving its offers and products with input from local and international teams.

“The dynamism and strong links between our team and our customers allow us to let our imagination run wild and offer new original flavors and products,” she said.

For example, CoCo Bubble Tea Mauritius recently launched its “Exotic Fruit Series” flavors, including grenadine and peach, which have received an immediate response from customers.

Customer loyalty card

De Boer stressed that the company’s values are built on ensuring constant quality while offering a friendly and enjoyable experience for customers.

“To us, it is essential to guarantee a constant quality while providing a pleasant experience for our customers,” she said.

In addition to its customer loyalty program, CoCo Tea offers a VIP program for partners in malls where it operates.

The company also offers delivery services through DoDo Delivery in northern regions and Port Louis. Furthermore, it is working on launching an app, with de Boer keeping the details under wraps for now. Regular promotions are advertised on social media platforms.

New products introduced this month

De Boer emphasized that CoCo Tea’s story is not just a chapter, but a book that the company aims to write.

“We have been lucky to have a product that is well-received in Mauritius and are proud to be able to continue developing on the island and in the region in the coming months and years,” she said.

Moreover, de Boer announced that the menu will evolve further from July 2024 with new products and flavors introduced each month until December.

Ecological commitment

When the board decided to bring CoCo Tea to Mauritius, ecology played a major role in the selection process.

“What’s more, we ensure that we reduce our carbon footprint daily through various initiatives,” explained de Boer.

For example, the company avoids single-use plastics and prefers recycled or biodegradable materials.

“We also make it a point to combat food waste. We have a strict policy at all our outlets regarding water and electricity conservation,” she highlighted.

Furthermore, recipes like tea and toppings are prepared at the last minute to avoid waste and ensure freshness.

“And as good deeds lead to good consequences, it ensures that our customers receive a product that is always fresh and of the highest quality,” said de Boer.
