Mauritian School Among World Finalists for $100,000 Zayed Sustainability Prize

A Mauritian school, Lighthouse Primary and Secondary School, has been named one of the 33 finalists for the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Prize.

This award recognizes outstanding sustainability solutions led by students in various categories.

The prize, established in honour of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, aims to promote sustainable development and humanitarian efforts globally.

Over the past 15 years, it has positively impacted the lives of millions of people across 151 countries.

The winners will be announced during the Zayed Sustainability Prize Awards Ceremony on December 1, coinciding with the UN Climate Change Conference COP28 UAE.

The finalists were selected from a record-breaking number of submissions, demonstrating a strong commitment to creating a more sustainable and resilient future.

The prize has been instrumental in providing solutions for climate progress, focusing on vital aspects like energy transition, climate finance, livelihoods, and inclusivity.

Through previous winners, millions have gained access to clean water, reliable energy, nutritious food, and affordable healthcare.
