Kidnapped, Held Captive for 6 Days and Left for Dead in Woods

A 83-year-old elderly man from Chamouny village, has endured a harrowing ordeal at the hands of three individuals believed to be drug addicts. Jaylall Sooklaul was reportedly kidnapped and held captive for over six days, before being abandoned in the woods.

Despite search efforts by the police, family, and neighbours, he remained undiscovered until a local resident recently found him in a weakened state with multiple injuries.

“When I saw him, I couldn’t recognise him; he couldn’t walk or even utter a word. He was traumatised,” his son, Anil Sooklaul, 53, was cited as telling Le Mauricien.

The traumatised community of Chamouny has united, organising a protest to denounce the escalating drug trade that has reportedly infiltrated their village.

Disturbing testimonies reveal the extent of drug-related issues, with locals describing a surge in drug trafficking and the impact it has had on their once-peaceful neighbourhood.

The demand for action against the perpetrators and a crackdown on drug activities grows stronger as residents express concern for their safety and well-being.
