KPMG Report finds 'no evidence of bribery' in Harel Mallac-ID card controversy

“There is no indication of any payments having been made or intended to be made to subcontractors by HMT (Harel Mallac Technologies) which appear to be outside the scope of the project/contractual arrangements.”

Such were reportedly the conclusions of the fact-finding report by KPMG on the allegations of a Rs 27 million bribe (involving a minister) over the new ID card contract bagged by HMT.

According to a statement issued by Harel Mallac Technologies on Thursday 23 March, KPMG concluded that “Based on the bank payment instructions examined, no instruction to pay Rs 27 million to any individual or entity registered in Singapore was identified…”

Reform Party leader Roshi Bhadain had alleged that Rs 27 million were about to be paid to a minister as bribed.
