New KYC feature on MauPass requires user to send live selfie

An electronic “Know Your Customer” (KYC) feature has been deployed on the National Authentication Framework, namely MauPass by the Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation.

In order to activate their MauPass accounts, citizens were required to undergo a KYC process which was conducted in person at Post Offices.

The deployment of an electronic KYC feature is expected to allow the two-factor authentication process to be conducted online through the verification of a live selfie of a citizen against his picture on his National Identity Card or Passport.

This will enhance access to the MauPass platform, and facilitating Mauritian nationals abroad willing to activate their account remotely and have access to Government e-services and the MoKloud platform.
