The Group of lawyers, called the Avengers, held a protest in Port Louis on Saturday, demanding justice on the murder of Soopramanien Kistnen, a former activist of the MSM ruling party. Kistnen was found dead in Moka on October 18, 2020.

Ex-minister of Commerce Yogida Sawmynaden was forced to step down as minister in the wake of the investigation and shocking revelations that have followed.

Equipped with the national flag and placards, protesters walked in front of the Government House demanding “truth and justice” for Kistnen. The rally was restricted to 100 persons due to the prevailing sanitary protocols.

Avengers spokesperson and lawyer Rama Valayden said the rally aimed at bringing “the voice of the street” to the government.

“This is the first warning to the Government,” he was quoted as saying.
