Indian Navy gives aircraft to Mauritius Police on a ‘gratis’ lease

The India Navy has handed over a passenger-variant Dornier aircraft on lease to Mauritius to reportedly assist the island with its security.
The Indian High Commissioner, Nandini K Singla, said the plane has been leased to Mauritius Police on a gratis basis to support the current load of air operations.

The move is part of the Indian Navy’s Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR) programme announced for enhanced maritime security of the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
Next year, the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will commission a new Dornier aircraft, which has been financed through a Line of Credit (LOC).
