Trade deficit to hit Rs108 Billion, up 13%

The trade deficit for 2021 is forecasted at around Rs108Billion, 13.1% higher as compared to around Rs95.5Billion in 2020, according to latest figures released by Statistics Mauritius.

The forecast of total exports for 2021 is expected to be around Rs 78 Billion, 11.1% higher than the total exports of around Rs70.2 Billion in 2020.

Total imports for 2021, including one-off items such as machinery for metro terminals, cranes and tugs, will be around Rs186Billion, 12.3% higher than the total imports of Rs165.7Billion in 2020.
