Mauritian Kimberley Le Court-Pienaar Makes History as 1st African Yellow Jersey Winner

Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam has praised Kimberley Le Court-Pienaar for her historic achievement at the Tour de France Féminin. She is the first Mauritian and the first African female cyclist to wear the yellow jersey in the race.

In a message posted on Facebook, Ramgoolam expressed pride and congratulated her, saying:

“Congratulations to Kimberley Le Court-Pienaar for this remarkable performance that brings pride to Mauritius beyond its borders. She is an inspiration to our youth and a source of national pride. Thank you for representing our country so proudly.”

Kimberley Le Court-Pienaar took the yellow jersey on Sunday during the second stage of the race.

She moved into the lead by finishing ahead of Dutch cyclist Marianne Vos in the general classification, thanks to her consistent performance over the first two stages.

This marks a historic milestone for African cycling and is a proud moment for Mauritius.
