PTr & MMM Meet the Electoral Commission to Discuss Election Reforms
After a meeting with the Electoral Commission, several suggestions on the electoral process have been proposed, said Navin Ramgoolam, leader of the Mauritian Labour Party (PTr), upon his exit from the commission’s office on Thursday, May 23.
The meeting was attended by leaders of the PTr, the Mauritian Militant Movement (MMM), and the New Democrats, along with Electoral Commissioner Irfan Rahman.
The discussion focused on a proposal to conduct the vote counting process on the same day as the elections.
Ramgoolam expressed concerns about the relocation of polling booths, voter anonymity, and the need for timely results from the counting process.
He emphasized the importance of addressing these issues to ensure a smooth and transparent election. Watch Video
