MauBank Boosts Digital Game with the Arrival of Praveen Nair
In a move aimed at further accelerating its digital transformation, MauBank has announced the appointment of Praveen Nair as its Chief Information and Digital Officer (CIDO). Nair will report directly to Vishuene Vydelingum, CEO of MauBank, and will be responsible for developing a comprehensive digital strategy in collaboration with the bank’s Executive Committee.
As CIDO, Nair will focus on designing and implementing digital tools and platforms, as well as automating business processes to drive a transformative change at MauBank.
With over 19 years of experience in senior positions within the banking and financial services sector, Nair is well-equipped to lead MauBank towards a next-generation digital solution business.
Prior to joining MauBank, Nair served as Chief Operating Officer at Credito PLC in the UK for four years, where he oversaw the setup of IT, finance, strategy, HR, and operations departments.
During his tenure, he successfully introduced digital technology architecture for AI-based debt collections and information security controls. Nair was also co-founder and board member of the UK Fintech organization.
Before that, he was Head of Process Transformation & Digitalization at Commercial Bank International in Dubai for eight years, where he developed a comprehensive digital strategy aligned with the bank’s objectives.
“MauBank has a proven track record of conceptualizing and rolling out successful digital strategies across major financial institutions,” said Vydelingum. “I am confident that Praveen will lead our highly capable in-house team towards harnessing disruption for transformation in MauBank.
His appointment is in line with our objective to leverage cutting-edge technologies to enhance our services.”
The bank’s CEO emphasized that embracing fintech advancements, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation will enable MauBank to stay competitive, improve operational efficiency, and meet the evolving needs of its customers.
Nair expressed his excitement about joining MauBank at a time when the bank is growing stronger year on year, with a clear vision and drive to accelerate digitalization across its products and services.
“We aim to become the ‘Bank of Choice’ for our customers and colleagues through leading digital capabilities on par with the global banking industry and superior customer experience,” he said.
MauBank’s focus on digital transformation and financial technology is evident in its recent awards. In 2023, the bank received the award for Best Digital Experience in Banking (Mauritius) from CFI.co, while in 2022, it was recognized as Best Digital Transformation in Banking (Mauritius).
The appointment of Nair is geared towards developing digital resources that will enhance convenience and ease-of-use for clients.
As CIDO, Nair will oversee IT services and operations at MauBank, driving the development of digital tools and platforms that will transform the way the bank operates.
