A desperate plea for public solidarity has been issued to raise over Rs 1,568,209 for Wiam, an eight-year-old boy requiring an urgent kidney transplant in India. The youngster, who also lives with Down syndrome, faces a life-threatening deterioration in his health that has moved his scheduled surgery into a race against time.

Critical Medical Decline

Wiam was originally slated to travel to Chennai for treatment in a fortnight. However, recent medical consultations revealed a dangerous spike in his creatinine and urea levels.

Doctors have warned that if his urea levels continue to rise, his life will be at risk.

This medical setback has transformed his transfer to Chennai for the transplantation into an emergency matter.

A Father’s Sacrifice

Wiam’s father is set to be the organ donor for the procedure. Despite the medical preparations and documents being finalised, the family has reached a financial breaking point.

Having recently returned from Apollo Hospital in Chennai, the father explained that previous medical costs have exhausted their resources, leaving them unable to fund the return trip for this vital intervention.

He further clarified that Wiam cannot be maintained on dialysis, making the transplant his only viable path to a stable life.

How to Help

The non-governmental organisation Enn Rev Enn Sourir is working alongside the family to coordinate the fundraising effort.

They are calling on the public to help bridge the financial gap required to save the young boy’s life.

Donations can be made via the following details:

  • Bank: MCB
  • Account Name: Enn Rev Enn Sourir
  • Account Number: 000446714747
  • IBAN: MU54MCBL0944000446714747000MUR
