Police Arrest a Suspect Attempting to Collect Drug Infused Paper Parcel
A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Mauritius following a targeted anti-drug operation at the Petite-Rivière post office, authorities have confirmed.
The suspect was apprehended by the Anti Drug and Smuggling Unit (ADSU) during a “controlled delivery” operation.
He had arrived at the post office to collect a parcel sent from the United Kingdom, which was found to contain A4 paper sheets soaked in synthetic drugs.
The illicit consignment had arrived in Mauritius on 12 May aboard British Airways flight BA 2065.
It was initially intercepted by customs officers during a routine screening procedure, where an subsequent field test confirmed the presence of narcotics.
