5 Veteran Prison Officers Promoted to Assistant Superintendent after 33 Years’ Service
Five long-serving prison officials have been promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Prisons following 33 years of dedicated service.
The promotions, announced this Thursday, 16 April, follow the successful completion of mandatory examinations required for the superior grade.
The newly appointed Assistant Superintendents are Mr Humduth Singh Fokeer, Mr Atchamnah Vunka Jungum, Mr Salim Burkutally, Mr Rajesh Jawaheer, and Mr Yougeswar Chummun.
Recognition of Service
The Commissioner of Prisons, Rashid Ali Beekhun, has formally noted the elevations, which serve as recognition for the officers’ long-standing commitment and experience.
Officials stated that the promotions reflect the quintet’s significant contribution to the operational efficiency of the prison service throughout their three-decade careers.
The move marks a significant shift in the senior ranks, rewarding those who have met the rigorous criteria and exam requirements necessary to ascend from their former roles as Principal Prison Officers.
Milestone for Women in the Service
In a concurrent development, the service celebrated a further milestone with the promotion of Ms Taslima Elaheebux.
Formerly a Women Lead Prison Officer, Ms Elaheebux has been elevated to the rank of Woman Principal Prison Officer.
This promotion is being highlighted as a major landmark in her professional career within the correctional system.
