Mauritius Fleet Swells Past 743,000 Mark: 160,000 Vehicles Added Since 2019

The number of vehicles on Mauritius’ roads has reached a staggering 743,190 as of 31 October 2025, according to the latest figures.

Significant Annual and Six-Year Growth

The total fleet size represents a 4.6 per cent increase compared to the figures recorded at the end of 2024.

This continued expansion is further highlighted by the fact that over 160,000 new vehicles have been added to the national fleet in the past six years (since 2019). The data shows the “parc automobile”—the official term for the total vehicle fleet—is continuing its upward trajectory.

The Rising Trend

The growth illustrates a persistent trend of increasing vehicle numbers circulating on the roads. The figures underscore a significant rise in registered vehicles, with the current total of 743,190 actively in use.

“Between 2019 and October 2025, the total number increased from 580,629 to 743,190 units, an increase of about 28%.

Nothing new: in the first ten months of 2025, some 32,585 additional vehicles were registered, representing a 4.6% increase over one year.”
