The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) is set to construct a major Integrated Customs Services Complex in Mer-Rouge, directly next to the existing MRA Customs House. The central feature of the new development will be a substantial 3,000 m2 warehouse dedicated to holding seized, abandoned, and confiscated goods managed by the Customs Department.

New Warehouse and Administrative Block Details

The complex will also incorporate a 1,000 m2 administrative block designed to house Customs Department officers.

The new warehouse aims to significantly enhance storage efficiency and operations. It will feature vertical racking systems to maximise space and modern loading and unloading bays to expedite the movement of containerised goods.

Crucially, the facility will be equipped to store products that require specific conditions or temperatures.

Compliance and Modernisation

The MRA has stipulated that the warehouse must adhere to all current health and safety requirements and standards in line with Mauritian legislation.

This modernisation project is intended to optimise space and accelerate processes for the handling and storage of various goods under the control of Customs.
