35-Year-Old Man Stabbed on MEL Tram in Quatre-Bornes

The man was stabbed aboard Metro Express (MEL) travelling from Quatre-Bornes to Curepipe on Sunday, 21 September. The victim, a resident of Rose-Belle, was taken to Victoria Hospital after receiving on-site first aid from SAMU paramedics.

The attack occurred as the tram was heading towards Curepipe. The suspected assailant fled the scene, exiting the tram at the Belle-Rose station.

The victim sustained serious injuries in the attack and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A police investigation is underway to locate the suspect.

Transport Minister Osman Mahomed stated that CCTV footage will be reviewed to establish the exact circumstances of the incident, which he believes was a targeted act of revenge.
