A Tragic Death in Coromandel Brings the National Road Toll to 24 Victims
A motorcyclist from Chebel has been killed following a collision with a taxi in Coromandel on Tuesday, 17 February, becoming the 24th life lost in the country since the start of the year.
Police arriving at the scene discovered the victim lying unconscious on the roadway. Emergency medical personnel from SAMU were called to the site but were only able to confirm the rider’s death upon arrival.
Investigation and Legal Proceedings
The driver of the taxi involved in the incident underwent a breathalyser test, which returned a negative result.
He was subsequently taken into custody and is scheduled to appear in court this Wednesday, 18 February.
The victim’s body has been transported to the morgue at Jeetoo Hospital, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
