3 Russian Tourists Arrested as Police Smash Coastal Prostitution Ring Network
Detectives have dismantled a suspected Russian prostitution network in Flic-en-Flac after an undercover operation caught three tourists operating out of local villas.
The trio, who entered Mauritius on tourist visas, were detained on Sunday evening after allegedly offering sexual services to an undercover officer for MUR 15,000.
The coordinated raids, overseen by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Boolaky and led by Inspector Sunnia, resulted in the seizure of significant sums of cash and drugstores’ worth of sexual health supplies.
Undercover Sting at ‘Residence Abricot’
The operation commenced at approximately 7:45 pm when a plainclothes officer targeted Residence Abricot on the coastal road.
There, he was reportedly approached by Zhanna Sysoeva, 51, and Olesia Federiagina, 47.
Police reports indicate the women offered sex in exchange for MUR 15,000 at their Apartment 15 residence.
Upon revealing his identity, the officer summoned a support team led by Sergeant Seenundun.
When informed they were being held for “soliciting a male person for immoral purposes in a public place,” the suspects reportedly claimed they were unaware such activities were illegal in Mauritius.
A search of their flat uncovered:
- 126 condoms and various lubricants.
- 3,150 Euros, MUR 11,200, and a single US dollar.
- Passports confirming tourist status, with Sysoeva arriving on 15 January and Federiagina on 2 February.
Second Raid at RS Villa
The crackdown continued at 9:15 pm at RS Villa on Avenue des Manguiers. The same undercover operative met Oliviia Mititelu, 39, who allegedly made an identical proposal of sex for MUR 15,000.
Mititelu remained silent when the officer identified himself. A subsequent search of her room, conducted under warrant, yielded 118 condoms and MUR 26,000 in cash.
Ongoing Investigation
All three women are currently being held at the Flic-en-Flac police station. Investigators are now shifting their focus toward potential accomplices, specifically regarding the coordination of the women’s activities and the provision of their accommodation.
ASP Boolaky’s team has confirmed that the inquiry is ongoing and further arrests have not been ruled out as they untangle the logistics of the operation.
