Senior Counsel Antoine Domingue Returns to Lead Mauritius Bar Association
In a significant return to leadership for the legal profession, Me Antoine Domingue, Senior Counsel, has been elected as the President of the Mauritius Bar Association.
The election, which took place this Thursday, 29 January, marks the third time Me Domingue will head the Bar Council.
He takes over the mantle from the outgoing president, Me Anwar Moollan, Senior Counsel.
A Seasoned Leader
Me Domingue brings extensive experience to the role, having already completed two previous terms as president.
His election signals a period of continuity and senior leadership for the island’s legal practitioners.
The New Council
Alongside the presidency, the composition of the Bar Council was finalised. Six additional members have been appointed to serve on the council for the upcoming term:
- Yatin Varma
- Bisham Ramdenee
- Natasha Behary-Panray
- Priscilla Balgobin-Bhoyrul
- Zaki Ramtoolah
- Hisham Oozeer
The new council will be responsible for overseeing the affairs of the Mauritius Bar Association, representing the interests of the legal community and maintaining professional standards.
