Former Mayor Killed & 3 Relatives Hurt in Devastating Road Traffic Accident
The former Mayor of Beau-Bassin–Rose-Hill has died following a devastating road traffic collision in New Grove Wednesday evening, 21 January. Rajenee Mootoo-Caroopen was killed in the crash at Gros-Billot while en route to Plaisance airport to drop off her daughter.
The incident has left her husband in a critical condition and her two children with serious injuries.
Family Hospitalised
Mrs Mootoo-Caroopen’s husband was rushed to hospital with grave injuries, where he remains under intensive care.
The couple’s son and daughter also sustained serious injuries in the collision and are currently receiving medical treatment.
Investigation Underway
The accident occurred as the family travelled toward the airport. Local police have launched a formal investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
