Fire Crews Battle 3 Hour Blaze As 2 Shops in Rose-Hill Burn To Ground
The blaze, which broke out at approximately 9:00 pm, completely destroyed the two shops. Both premises were constructed from timber and corrugated iron, materials that allowed the flames to spread rapidly. The two local businesses were reduced to ashes on Wednesday, December 17, evening after a fierce fire swept through a pair of commercial structures in Rose Hill.
Emergency Response
Firefighting crews from Quatre-Bornes were dispatched to the scene shortly after the alarm was raised.
They battled the inferno for several hours, eventually bringing the fire under control just before midnight.
Owners Left Devastated
The two shop owners were present at the scene as the incident unfolded. They were forced to watch helplessly as their livelihoods were decimated by the flames.
Despite the total destruction of the property, authorities have confirmed that no injuries were reported.
Investigation Underway
The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an official valuation of the financial loss has yet to be determined.
Mauritius Police have launched a formal investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the start of the blaze.
