A 56-year-old German national has been arrested at Plaisance Airport after customs and anti-narcotics agents discovered two kilogrammes of heroin hidden in his luggage, with a local contact also detained shortly after in an exercise of “controlled delivery.”
Local Man Detained in Follow-Up Operation
The massive drug seizure, which has an estimated street value of Rs 31 million, was made on Thursday, November 27.
The heroin, found in granulated form, was concealed within a false bottom of the German suspect’s suitcase during a routine baggage check.
The man is reported to be a 56-year-old nurse.
In a related operation, the Anti-Drug Smuggling Unit (ADSU) arrested a 34-year-old resident of Plaine-Verte when he attempted to receive the illicit consignment.
This successful follow-up was conducted under a “controlled delivery” exercise.
Both suspects have been placed in police custody following their arrests by ADSU agents working alongside the Customs Anti-Narcotics Section.
