This strategic expansion aims to cater to the growing demand for leisure travel and bolster tourism for both nations.

“Connecting Cape Town with Mauritius is a fascinating achievement,” said SAA chief executive officer, Professor John Lamola, who highlighted the route’s role in promoting regional travel and supporting tourism objectives.

The flight schedule, carefully crafted through collaboration with South African tour operators, is designed to align with peak holiday travel preferences.

However, a temporary adjustment to the schedule is expected between mid-January and mid-March 2026 to accommodate evolving travel demands.

Mauritius’ Hidden Gems for Tourists

For those looking to explore beyond Mauritius’ famed beaches, the island offers a wealth of unique attractions.

  • Eau Bleue: Located in the village of Cluny, this series of azure waterfalls and tranquil swimming holes provides a secluded escape for a refreshing dip and photography.
  • Black River Gorges National Park: This national park is a haven for nature enthusiasts, featuring lush forests, waterfalls, and unique wildlife, including the rare pink pigeon. It offers a variety of hiking trails to explore the island’s natural beauty.
