In a statement issued on Wednesday, 13th August, the Mauritian government condemned the worsening humanitarian crisis in the territory and called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire. Mauritius has expressed “deep concern” over Israel’s proposed full occupation of Gaza, warning that it threatens any prospect of a two-state solution.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry deplored the escalating violence and the killing of innocent civilians, including women and children.

Reiterating its support for an independent Palestinian state coexisting peacefully with Israel, Mauritius urged a swift return to negotiations in line with UN resolutions and international humanitarian law.

The statement came amid rising global tensions over the conflict, with Mauritius joining international calls for a lasting resolution to the crisis.
