3-Year-Old Girl Critical After Suspected Drug Ingestion
A three-year-old girl is in serious condition in the intensive care unit at Dr. A. G. Jeetoo Hospital after reportedly accidentally ingesting a harmful substance. The incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, August 2, at Résidence La Cure.
According to the child’s mother, a 20-year-old woman, her daughter hit the left side of her head accidentally against a tricycle around 9 p.m.
Shortly afterward, the girl began to feel unwell. She was quickly taken to Dr. A. G. Jeetoo Hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit.
During medical examinations, doctors informed the mother that the girl had ingested Subutex, a medication often used to treat opioid addiction.
The mother denied any drug use at home, stating that no one in the household consumes drugs.
Authorities from Vallée-des-Prêtres police have launched an investigation to determine how the girl came into contact with the substance.
