Road Safety: 636 Fines Issued for Speeding and Drunk Driving
Recent police checks across the island have targeted dangerous driving behaviors, resulting in 636 fines issued. During these operations, police intercepted a total of 4,838 vehicles.
The most common violation was speeding, with 92 drivers fined for exceeding speed limits.
Additionally, three drivers tested positive for alcohol consumption, and two others were caught driving under the influence of illegal drugs.
Motorcyclists were also checked, and out of 708 motorcycles stopped, 89 received tickets for violations.
The police also immobilized eight vehicles parked illegally.
These measures are part of ongoing efforts to enforce traffic laws and reduce accidents caused by risky driving on the island’s roads.
