The weather’s a bit gloomy across the island, the clouds linked to a frontal system passing overhead. Expect quite a bit of rain, especially in the south and central highlands. Fog patches might also pop up in some areas, so visibility could be reduced at times — travelers and drivers should be careful.

Temperature-wise:

  • In the central plateau, highs will stay between 21°C and 24°C.
  • Along the coast, it’ll be warmer, between 25°C and 27°C.
  • At night, temperatures will dip slightly below normal, dropping to around 14°C to 16°C in the highlands and 18°C to 20°C near the coast.

Rain and Visibility

Rain will continue tonight and into tomorrow morning, mainly in the south and central parts of the island. Fog could make driving tricky in some places, so keep an eye out.

Winds and Sea Conditions

South-East winds will be blowing at about 15 km/h today, but expect them to pick up tonight, with gusts reaching up to 50 km/h.

The sea is still moderate near the reefs this afternoon, but in the open ocean, conditions will get rougher.

Swells from the south-west could reach about 2.5 meters, so boaters and fishermen should avoid venturing out until conditions improve.

A tropical depression east-south-east of Diego-Garcia isn’t expected to affect Mauritius or the nearby islands.
