Yousouf Ismaël, Former Director General of CWA, Passes Away

The former Director General of the Central Water Authority (CWA), has passed away. His body was discovered on the morning of January 15th in his vehicle parked at Emerald Park in Trianon, where he resided. Preliminary reports suggested that he may have died from a heart attack.

Dr. Yousouf Ismaël also served as the Secretary General of the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI).

His death marks a significant loss for the community, as he was well-known in the business sector.

He was an economist and held various positions in several institutions throughout his career.

Notably, he served on the boards of both the Mauritius Standards Bureau and SME Mauritius Ltd.

Ismaël was the Director General of the CWA for over three years, from 2016 until the end of 2019, during which he made a considerable impact on the organization and its operations.

Yousouf Ismaël’s funeral is scheduled for this afternoon, January 15.
