Controversial Amendments Clashing with Pharmacy Act of 1983
In a recent development, the Pharmaceutical Association is opposing changes made to the “Guidelines for Opening of Pharmacies (Retail)” that came into effect on August 1st.
The association has lodged a legal challenge, asserting that these amendments contradict the provisions outlined in the Pharmacy Act of 1983. The case is scheduled for a hearing on September 18th.
A primary point of contention revolves around exceptions to the 200-meter minimum distance requirement for new pharmacies, with exemptions applying to Shopping Complexes, private hospitals, Shopping Malls, and Smart Cities.
