Civil service: salaries to be paid on December 10
Civil servants as well as employees of parastatal bodies will receive their salary on Friday December 10 instead of December 17.
Defi Media reported that the payment instructions were given by the Accountant-General to the Chief Executive Officer of the Mauritius Bankers Association on December 7.
The move for early payment of the salaries (in the public servant) comes soon after an appeal to this effect from Finance Minister Renganaden Padayachy and consumer rights associations.
Early payment of salaries is expected to contain last minute shopping crowds as the country continues to battle against the coronavirus and its variants.
