Former BoM Governor Bheenick Confirmed for SBM Chairman at 82
The nomination was made official on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, after a period of regulatory review. Former Bank of Mauritius Governor, Rundheersing Bheenick, has been appointed Chairman of SBM Bank (Mauritius) Ltd’s board of directors.
Bheenick’s candidacy had been under discussion since mid-2025, leading to a rigorous due diligence process by the central bank.
He previously served as Governor of the Bank of Mauritius from February 2007 to December 2014, including a second term that began in May 2010.
After several months of consultation and verification, the central bank granted its approval, clearing the way for his appointment.
