Council Elects 2 Women to Take Charge of Port Louis Capital
Historic shift for the capital city as two women are elected to lead Port Louis municipal council.
Christelle Pondard, representing the Labour Party, has been officially elected as the new Lord Mayor of Port Louis.
Joining her in the leadership team is Mehzabeen Caramtali from the MMM, who has been elected as the Deputy Lord Mayor.
The two women were voted into office during a special session of the municipal council held on Monday afternoon, 25 May.
