Mauritius President Joins 40,000 Global Delegates at Historic Baku Urban Forum
BAKU — The President of Mauritius, Dharambeer Gokhool, has arrived in Azerbaijan to attend the 13th Session of the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13), a major international event that has already made history with a record-breaking turnout.
President Gokhool landed in the capital on May 17 for the forum, which is officially opening at the iconic Baku Olympic Stadium.
Organized in close partnership between the Azerbaijani government and UN-Habitat, the high-profile conference will run through to May 22.
Record Attendance
This year’s edition of WUF13 has firmly placed Azerbaijan back in the global spotlight.
More than 40,000 participants from 182 countries have registered for the event, marking a historic level of attendance that highlights the host nation’s growing international profile and a rising global interest in the country.
High-Level Welcome
Upon his arrival at Heydar Aliyev International Airport, President Gokhool was received by a delegation of dignitaries led by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Health, Teymur Musayev, and other senior officials.
WUF13 is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading global platforms dedicated to urban development, sustainability, and the future of cities.
