Mauritian police have launched a major investigation after the body of Gino Ronnie Bodha, the son of former minister and Rassemblement Mauricien leader Nando Bodha, was discovered at La Nicolière on Friday afternoon, 15 May.

Detectives are treating the death as a suspected murder, with the “foul play” theory currently being strongly prioritised.

The discovery follows a missing persons report filed for the 44-year-old at Grand-Gaube police station on Thursday, 14 May.

Swift Arrests Made

Authorities have moved quickly in the wake of the discovery, with two suspects already taken into custody.

While police continue to process the scene and interview those involved, the specific motives and the exact circumstances surrounding the tragedy remain unclear.

Investigation Ongoing

The victim’s body has been officially identified, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place.

This autopsy will be critical in establishing the precise cause of death for the 44-year-old.

Officers have confirmed that the investigation is in its early stages as they work to piece together the final movements of Mr Bodha.
