Police Deploy Helicopter and Multiple Units for Missing Mother on Mountain
A major police search operation is currently underway in the Signal Mountain region following the disappearance of a woman during a mountain hike early Monday morning, 23 March.
The alarm was raised after the woman’s 18-year-old son contacted authorities to report that he had become injured and had lost sight of his mother during their descent.
While the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be established, emergency services were deployed to the area immediately.
Emergency Response
The teenager was quickly located by rescue teams and received initial treatment from SAMU (emergency medical services).
He has since been transported to the Dr A.G. Jeetoo Hospital in Port Louis for further medical care.
Extensive Search Operation
Following the son’s rescue, a large-scale search was launched to locate his mother.
The operation involves multiple police units and the use of a police helicopter, which has been surveying the rugged terrain since the early hours of the day.
At this stage, there has been no official confirmation regarding the mother’s whereabouts or condition.
Active search efforts are continuing across the region as authorities look for any sign of the missing hiker.
