75-Room Hotel in Matemwe Becomes Attitude's 10th Venture

Mauritian-based Attitude Group has announced the forthcoming opening of its tenth hotel and its first venture outside of Mauritius. The new establishment is set to open in two months in the coastal village of Matemwe, Zanzibar. This development is part of the group’s strategy to export its brand and identity beyond the Indian Ocean.

The new hotel is situated on a 23-acre plot and features 75 rooms. The project represents a significant investment of $20 million.

Matemwe was chosen for its pristine beaches, turquoise lagoons, and tranquil atmosphere, along with its strong traditional identity rooted in artisanal fishing and community life.

Strategy and Philosophy

The expansion into Zanzibar marks a new chapter for Attitude Group, which already operates nine hotels in Mauritius.

The group’s CEO, Vincent Desvaux de Marigny, stated that the company will “transport its corporate culture” to Africa.

Attitude’s business model focuses on proximity-based hospitality, authenticity, local experiences, and celebrating surrounding communities.

The company, which has a 65-year heritage, was founded in 2008 and is known for its unique approach, which includes guests dining with locals and highlighting the role of its “families” (employees).

This strategy is inspired by “Mauritianism,” a concept promoted through communication in Creole and the promotion of local artisans.

Company Profile

In Mauritius, Attitude Group employs around 1,600 people and has a turnover of 4.5 billion rupees.

The new Zanzibar hotel is the first of two planned projects in the Matemwe area. The expansion reflects the group’s ambition to grow its brand internationally.
