The Association of Hoteliers and Restaurants of Mauritius (AHRIM) has announced the appointment of Shirin Gunny as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 May 2026.

Ms Gunny will succeed the long-serving Jocelyn Kwok, who is set to retire on 30 April following nearly fifteen years at the helm of the organisation.

The transition is being hailed by the association as a significant new strategic chapter for the Mauritian tourism and hospitality sector.

A Proven Track Record

A graduate of HEC Montréal, Ms Gunny returns to a high-profile leadership role with a distinguished background in strategy and communication.

Since returning to Mauritius in 2012, her career has been defined by several landmark achievements:

  • Label Creation: She successfully spearheaded the development of the ‘Made in Moris’ brand.
  • Industrial Leadership: She previously led the Association of Mauritian Manufacturers (AMM).
  • Advocacy: During her tenure at the AMM, she was instrumental in strengthening advocacy for innovation and industrial competitiveness.

End of an Era for Jocelyn Kwok

The outgoing CEO, Jocelyn Kwok, has been a fixture of the association since 2011. AHRIM officials credited Mr Kwok with significantly bolstering the body’s institutional credibility during his decade-and-a-half tenure.

Under his leadership, the association solidified its position as the primary interlocutor for the Mauritian tourism industry, navigating the complexities of the sector with a steady hand.

Strategic Transition

The move signals a shift in focus for AHRIM as it prepares for a future guided by Ms Gunny’s expertise in branding and advocacy.

The handover in May will conclude a transition period aimed at maintaining the association’s influence within the national economy.
