Public Warned After Jellyfish Sighted in Mont-Choisy Lagoon
Bathers and water sports enthusiasts have been advised to stay out of the water at Mont-Choisy following a jellyfish alert issued this 13 January. The National Coast Guard (NCG) reported the presence of the marine creatures within the lagoon, prompting an immediate safety warning for the popular coastal area.
The Police Press Office confirmed the sightings early today, urging the public to exercise “the utmost caution” and avoid all nautical activities until further notice.

Authorities have highlighted the potential dangers posed by contact with the jellyfish. A sting can result in a range of symptoms, including:
- Intense burning sensations
- Itching and skin irritation
- Headaches
- Vomiting
