Waking Nightmare: Woman, 21, Plans to Sue Police After Unwarranted Bedroom Entry

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is set to receive a formal complaint from a woman in Trou-d’Eau-Douce, following a disturbing incident on Thursday morning, 2nd October, where two men, reportedly in civilian clothes, allegedly stormed into her room as she slept.

Unannounced Entry and Search

The woman, who insists no search warrant was presented, described the incident as an “unacceptable intrusion.”

She was resting in her room at around 9 am when the two men entered and began looking for another woman.

She told them no one by that name lived at her residence, upon which the men immediately left.

Deeply shocked by the incident, she claims to be able to identify the two individuals who entered her room and expressed displeasure at how the event unfolded.

Officers at the Scene

After the men left, the young woman looked out of her window and saw two other men in plain clothes in her yard, accompanied by a uniformed female police officer.

Connection to Ongoing Investigation

Information gathered indicates the police officers were searching for a different 20-year-old woman who is involved in an electronic fraud case.

This separate individual has been failing to comply with an obligation to certify her daily presence at the Trou-d’Eau-Douce police station between 6 am and 6 pm, an obligation in place since last July.

Authorities reportedly intensified their search efforts after she missed this obligation for several weeks.

IPCC to Investigate Conduct

The woman lodging the complaint is adamant that no official document was presented to her at any point.

The IPCC is expected to examine the circumstances of the intervention to determine whether the officers involved exceeded their authority or if the incident was a simple misunderstanding related to the ongoing inquiry.
