The scheme, known as Phase 2B of the Home Solar Project, was officially launched on August 25th by Energy Minister Patrick Assirvaden in Chamouny. More than 2,000 vulnerable households are set to receive free solar panels in a major government initiative aimed at cutting electricity bills and supporting the country’s green energy goals.

Minister’s Vision

The project will see the Central Electricity Board (CEB) install 2kW photovoltaic kits on the homes of those in need, free of charge.

The move is part of a broader national effort to boost renewable energy generation, with the government aiming for 60% green energy by 2030.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Assirvaden described the project as more than just an electricity programme, calling it a “societal project.”

The initiative is designed to not only reduce household energy costs but also to help the nation transition to a more sustainable power grid.
